Canada Industries Protein (PIC), established the collaboration to tie together companies from different stages of the industry value chain. The consortium is led by NRGene. Developing crop varieties with nutritional content and texture best fitted to the alternative protein industry, including a new pea-hemp flour blend.
NRGene will apply its cutting-edge genomics to help the partners develop and grow varieties naturally with characteristics required to the specific end-product and bring the improved product to market in a significantly shorter time.
